USB Port De-Mux and ESD Protector

Description:

EL3000 provides a solution which allows a high-speed USB port to support reversible insertion while providing a high level of ESD protection. EL3000 contains an insertion direction detection circuit, a power de-multiplexer, a USB D+ D- de-multiplexer and ESD protection.

The de-mux function operates completely independent and requires no external power supplies. The VBUS power path features an active rectifier bridge with low 200mohm on-resistance and up to 22V between PWR1 and PWR4. This path can pass greater than 1A over a voltage range from 3.5V to 22V. The USB data path is automatically de-multiplexed using an analog switch which is controlled by the orientation detected across PWR1 and PWR4. This path is designed for high-speed USB data with low 5ohm on resistance and less than 6pF shunt capacitance.

All external facing balls are protected against ESD to IEC61000-4-2 8kV contact 15kV air gap minimum.
