Boost Efficiency and Reliability in Automotive Lighting with New Automotive-Grade LED Driver Solutions

Irvine, California, February 4, 2025 – Elevation Microsystems, delivering energy-efficient high-voltage power management solutions for sustainable electrification, backed by expertise in automotive power system architecture, functional safety, and advanced design, announce the launch of three advanced automotive-grade (AEC-Q100 Qualified) LED driver solutions: the EV5400, EV5441Q, and EV5491Q, designed to meet the evolving needs of automotive lighting systems.

All three devices combine cutting-edge thermal management, diagnostic features, and robust fault protection to deliver exceptional performance and reliability for a variety of automotive applications.

The EV5400 is a single-channel linear constant current LED driver with up to 450 mA current capability, making it ideal for battery-powered automotive applications. Its wide supply voltage range (up to 40 V) and unique thermal balancing design allow for efficient heat dissipation, addressing common thermal limitations in high-current conditions. The EV5400 also supports full diagnostics, including open-load and short-to-GND detection, and offers flexible FAULT bus connections for fail-safe operation.

The EV5441Q is a four-channel linear LED current driver that can handle input voltages up to 42 V, with output currents externally programmable up to 150 mA per channel. It features Dynamic Headroom Control (DHC) to minimize thermal stress and integrates fault detection circuitry for open/short circuit and over-temperature conditions. The fault pins allow for device disabling in parallel circuits to enhance system reliability.

The EV5491Q is a 42 V, single-channel linear LED current driver with a 60 V transient peak input capability. With externally programmable output currents up to 150 mA and an internal PWM generator for dimming control, it offers flexibility and precision. The EV5491Q also features built-in protections such as open/short circuit reporting, current foldback, and thermal shutdown, ensuring maximum safety and reliability.

“These innovative LED drivers provide automotive designers with the tools needed to meet the critical demanding requirements of today’s vehicle lighting systems, enhancing both performance and durability,” stated James Park, President of Elevation Microsystems, Korea and Chief Operations Officer.
